BEATTY, CLYDE WITH EARL WILSON
JUNGLE PERFORMERS
NY, McBride, copyright 1941, 3rd printing (1944). 1944. Hardcover . Hardback, 8vo, gilt on navy blue cloth, 320 pages, Near VG/no dj. Only minor signs of wear, spine-ends bumped, gilt (spine only) very readable, but slightly dulled. Navy blue dulled just slightly at the spine, as well. Edges tanned a little, one short tear (bottom edge) within. Binding sound with hinges intact. Anecdotes and appx 16 plates of photos of Beatty and his animals: elephants, lions, tigers, chimps, hippo, etc. Includes chapters concerning: Beatty's favorite animals, Hollywood, Cole Brothers, an incident in Milwaukee, Harriet Beatty (his wife - "a superb lion trainer in her own right"). Earl Wilson (co-author) must be an entertainment journalist of some sort. I believe I've seen one of his own books called Hollywood Laid Bare or some such, featuring a half-dozen photographs taken during an interview he did with a naked woman. Very Good.
